Day 80: Victory Saber

Pictured here in this drawing from 2019 is Victory Saber, the combined forms of Victory Leo and Star Saber. These toys were available separately in Japan in 1989, or as a gift set that made combining them that much easier. In addition to their robot modes merging, their alternate modes also combine to form a giant space cruiser.

Day 78: Star Saber

Here is Star Saber, the combined form of yesterday's Saber and the V-Star starship, amping up the robot to its deluxe form. Star Saber, in this mode, was heavily featured in Japanese storytelling, starting with the  Transformers Victory  series and toyline in 1989.

Day 77: Saber

One of the main characters in the  Transformers Victory  Japanese storyline and toy collection, Saber is a Brainmaster, whose smaller component (inset) is the Brain of Courage. Saber turns into a spacecraft that combines with a booster sled / larger craft (seen here hovering in the background) called the V-Star. That V-Star also turns into a battle station, and can combine with Saber to form an even bigger robot, Star Saber. Saber was sold with the V-Star component to make Star Saber in 1989 in Japan.

Day 76: Road Caesar

The three Brainmasters from Japan can merge to become Road Caesar. The Brainmasters were sold individually or in a gift set that made their combination easier. He was available in 1989.

Day 75: Laster

Finishing off the trio of Brainmasters from Japan is Laster, who turns into a yellow Lamborghini Countach sports car. His Brainmaster unit (inset) is the "Brain of Skill." He was available in Japan in 1989 as part of the  Transformers Victory  line.

Day 74: Braver

Next in the line of Brainmasters from Japan is Braver. His Brainmaster unit/driver (inset) is the "Brain of Intelligence." He turns into a Ferrari F40 race car. Released in 1989, this drawing is from 2019.

Day 73: Blacker

This drawing kicks off a trio of Autobot Brainmasters, a subset only available in Japan starting in 1989. The Brainmaster gimmick is similar to the Headmaster, in that the driver figure from vehicle mode turns into the robot's head. But in this case, the process is a bit more mechanically involved, as the smaller figure enters the robot's chest cavity that then lifts it to become the face of robot. This is Blacker, whose smaller figure (inset) embodies the Brain of Strength. In vehicle mode, Blacker is a racing buggy.
