By 1993, the idea of turning Megatron into a realistic handgun toy was off the table, and since the toyline had moved well beyond the need to repurpose existing Japanese designs, a Generation Two Megatron could be just about anything. To prove a worthy adversary to Prime's 18 wheeler, Megatron went with a heavy metal approach, and now turns into an M1 Abrams tank. Without a new animated cartoon or comic series to explain Megatron's evolution, it fell to the pages of the G.I.Joe comic, which picked up some loose threads from the defunct Transformers comic, and had Megatron's reformatting from his Generation One self to his new body occur thanks to some collusion with Cobra. This brief crossover in the Joe comics presaged a relaunch of a Generation Two comics series.
The combined form of the Universe Micromaster Aerialbots is Superion, an amalgamation of six robots plus their pack-in accessories that serve as connectors, head, and extremities of the gestalt warrior. While in Japan, the original source of the design ( Sixwing , 1992) was available in a collected set, this combiner needed to be purchased one bot at a time in the 2007 Universe release.
